Handcycling Sunday April 19th

Sorry guys for taking so long to get my Handcycling Blog entry for the ride on Sunday April 19th. The best thing about Sunday was having four new riders joining the Program. First of all Denise may be only a first grader but she was riding a big bike with her new biking helment that was given to all the kids at the Rotary Club sponsored Bike Rodeo the day before up at Scottish Rite Hospital where I was representing RISE at the event. Denise was having so much fun riding that I told her mother Oralia about the weekly bike rides at Campion Trails in Irving. They showed up right when the program started they both got some good exercise Denise riding the bike and her mother having to run sometimes to keep up. I think she had some great fun and they said to expect them back next week on the 26th.

The other new riders included Scott with his brother Ty and he had a good long ride on one of our bikes but they also brought their Dragon Fly attachable handcycle which can convert a regular W/C to a handcycle. Lynn showed up and rode and said that she and her husband Sam also a P/C will be coming back next week to ride. We also had Ollie show up but he didn't remember his special gloves so he couldn't ride this week but said that he will be back next Sunday to get some riding in. Our regular Bill got in a good ride and hung around visiting with the other riders. Lynn and I talked about ways to develop the Program to have regular rides with local bike clubs or have a RISE presence at organized bike rides. Let me know if there is an interest in developing new handcycle options for the Program. I did a 6 mile ride before the Program started and was late getting back . Then I forgot to take any pictures of our new riders but I will do better next week I promise.
