We all had a great trip to Texoma to do some Striper fishing on the first of June! Andrew, Alex and Brittany went on a boat with their parents along with captain and guide, Roger. I went on a boat with Kaylee, Kristan and Tyler. I know it doesn't matter but Tyler will probably want me to tell ya'll about him catching the most and biggest fish. The most important thing is that they each caught a limit of fish tales that they will be able to tell everyone about for years to come, and they took home a limit of Striper fillets also. Our guide Scott Brigess (www.guidemystique.com) did another fine job of getting the kids on the fish and providing a fun and safe fishing adventure. We were on the water by 6:30 AM and were back on shore with 6 limits of Stripers by noon, and then the guides cleaned the fish and we took our group pictures and said our goodbyes. My biggest worry is that some rich guy will find out how much joy comes from getting to accompany these kids on the trips and he will offer to pay to get to do this and I might lose my job so let's keep this quiet. Thank you to RISE and the donors that make this all possible.

The Galveston Fishing Trip began Friday morning with the all the participants meeting at the RISE Corporate Offices in Irving. Joel Hendrix the RISE Program Director rented a fifteen (15) passenger van for the individuals to travel to Galveston in. The individuals drove to Galveston and shared stories along the way.

We then met up with some other individuals participating in the event at the La Quinta hotel in Texas City around 6pm. After checking everyone in we all went to the Galveston Yacht Basin and enjoyed live entertainment with all the Cold Boiled Shrimp you could eat. This is also when Joel arranged the boats for the participants.

The next morning we all traveled back to the Galveston Yacht Basin once again, but this time for the kiddos to go fishing. All of the RISE kiddos were boarded and out to sea to fish by 8am. We were provided three (3) boats in all; all of them forty (40) foot sports yachts. We placed two (2) kiddos per boat to allow plenty of room for fishing. The kids and guardians all got to enjoy the luxury of sports yachts as they fished until 1pm. Once all fishermen arrived back to shore an awards ceremony was held. At this time one of the RISE kiddos won third (3rd) place in the Youth Division. He, Eric Aguilar, was awarded a plaque as well as a $150 gift card. After the awards all the participants feasted on some good ole Texas Bar-B-Que. After lunch we all packed up and drove back to Dallas. We arrived back in Irving at the Corporate Offices at 8pm on Saturday night where all the families' split up and returned home.

This was a great tournament and we had a wonderful turn out!

I would like to thank David Gaston personally and on behalf of everyone at RISE Adventures for welcoming all of the TEAM RISE folks with open arms. David puts together one of the nicest events of the year. All of our team talked about how professional and organized David handled our entire stay. THANKS DAVID!

RISE was able to provide another great adventure last weekend at Lake Texoma. Sixteen of us stayed at the Tanglewood Resort. Thanks to a generous benefactor the rooms, food gas and three guided boats were provided to these young fishermen (and fisher women). The day started off slow thanks to a very heavy fog which didn't burn off till after 1:00. Then the good fishing started and everyone caught fish and had a great time.

We ended up catching 54 keepers which meant that everyone took home about 4 pounds of striper fillets. It was wonderful seeing the kids able to provide food for their families. Several commented that this was the type of memory that they would cherish for the rest of their lives. I shared a boat with Lauren Taylor and Gordon Giandada along with their dads and I'm pretty sure I saw Lauren sharing fishing tips with her dad.
